Bikram Yoga has taught me that the mind is as powerful as the body and that when I dig deep, I can surprise myself! Practicing Bikram Yoga supports me in my pursuit to become more present each day and I love that the intensity of effort required in class strengthens me both physically and mentally. It has improved my quality of sleep, reduced my anxiety, and helped me to become more balanced, grounded and energetic. Bikram Yoga is an important piece of my overall commitment to health.
I had been practicing hot power yoga for about 7 years when I was invited to a Bikram Yoga class. I was used to hot yoga, but not HOT yoga! It was hot and there were mirrors. I was used to practicing without having to see myself. Bikram Yoga opened my eyes to finally looking at myself and being less critical. I realized we are all there to “practice” and that it will constantly evolve. I have old injuries but the heat, mixed with the therapeutic benefits of the Bikram Yoga series have helped me. I will have a life-long practice of Bikram Yoga. I breathe, sweat, and stretch so I can keep having the life I want to live!
When I found Bikram Yoga, I was simply looking for a different workout. I had no idea what a profound impact it would have on my life. I’ve always been fairly athletic and it offered the hardest workout of my life! It also brought some much needed balance to my life. Most aspects of my life were extreme whether it was food, alcohol, or relationships. Bikram Yoga has taught me to slow down, enjoy the moment, and take a deep breath. Bikram Yoga calms my anxiety and lifts my depression. I feel healthier and sleep better when I practice regularly. No matter what I have going on in my life, I make time for my Bikram Yoga classes!
I love Lynne’s classes. Not only is she an excellent teacher, she is also a devoted student to her practice of Bikram Yoga. She continuously brings what she is learning to class and finds a way to apply it to whoever happens to be in class at that time. She uses her knowledge of human anatomy from her massage background to recognize, and give personalized corrections, for alignment in the postures. Her love of what she does is apparent and somehow makes you want to keep returning to the hot room!!!
Lynne is a consistently inspiring teacher. She gives excellent corrections and is generous with her praise. She keeps a cheerful atmosphere in the studio while motivating students to work hard. My sense is that Lynne is a devoted student herself, looking always to improve her understanding of Bikram Yoga. It is a pleasure to take her class.
